And the winner of Eurovision is … Sweden!

At least, that’s what Spotify’s streaming data is showing in the run up to this weekend’s final in Stockholm.

The streaming service has collated the most-streamed Eurovision tracks from competing countries and came up with a list that they predict could echo the final 10 in the competition.

Staying true to Eurovision’s rules, all finalists were ranked by streams minus those of host country Sweden as they cannot vote for themselves in the competition.

So while Australia’s entry Dami Im still has to make it through the semi-final on Friday night, Spotify streaming data puts her song Sound of Silence in fifth place overall.

The data also shows that the city listening to Im the most is Stockholm, which is ahead of Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and London.

If I Were Sorry, Sweden’s song, is in an easy lead and has already amassed over 30 million streams globally more than any song by The Beatles and twice that of ABBA’s Eurovision-winning Waterloo.

If the prediction comes true, it would mean Sweden would have to host the competition again next year, having won the contest last year with Heroes, sung by Mans Zelmerlow.

The win would further solidify Sweden’s place as one of the top songwriting hubs in the world. It’s home to producers and hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback who most recently worked on Taylor Swift’s number one album, 1989 and who who have also created hits for Pink, Adele and Britney Spears.
